Welcome to the the Lester D. Henderson Foundation for Youth. This Charity was founded in 1999 in the memory of a man, a wonderful husband and father that influenced many young lives in Southeast Texas. He passed away on August 31, 1999 after a year long battle with cancer. His family and friends wanted to do something special to to keep his legacy alive. So hence, the Lester D. Henderson Foundation for Youth was formed. Over the past 10 years it has helped numerous organizations, schools, and individuals in promoting and developing youth athletic programs. Lester coached his two sons, Will and Jake starting in 1988. He treated all his players as if they were his children. Each one treated as though they were special. He believed that "it was not just practice, but it is a perfect practice that makes you perfect". He believed that by teaching children the basics that you laid a strong foundation and success would follow. Lester also believed this philosophy was even more important in how one lived their life. He belonged to several organizations that benefited the youth in the area. This Foundation continues that legacy through the promotion, development and growth of young athletes. We are also adding a new dimension to the Foundation by raising funds for area youths that want to compete in sports but because of a disability or debilitating disease they are unable to compete. We want to help them make their dream a reality.
